Evergy crosses 70 million MWh of wind energy during American Wind Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 13, 2020) — Evergy wind farms marked 70 million megawatt hours of production this week as we commemorate American Wind Week with the American Wind Energy Association.

Evergy has been expanding wind energy production in the Midwest for more than a decade. With 4,600 megawatts of owned and contracted wind generation, our wind portfolio helps fuel Kansas’ No. 2 state ranking for wind generation as a percentage of total generation.

Evergy meets a third of our residential and business customers’ electricity needs with renewable sources. Wind and solar subscriptions are available for residential and small business customers who want more of their energy from renewables. Renewables Direct is available for commercial and industrial customers who want access to energy from area wind farms to help meet sustainability goals.

American Wind Week, Aug. 10-14, is marked by members of the American Wind Energy Association to highlight the benefits of wind and how it is helping build the future of energy.
