Kansas City, Mo., July 25, 2022 — Evergy wind farms marked 100 million megawatt hours of production this week. To display the magnitude of this milestone, that’s enough electricity to supply power at peak usage (game time) at Kauffman Stadium for more than 3,300 straight years.
Evergy has been expanding wind energy production in the Midwest for more than a decade. With 4,400 megawatts of owned and contracted wind generation, our wind portfolio helps solidify Kansas’ No. 2 United States ranking for wind generation as a percentage of total generation.

In 2021 the wind energy we generated was equivalent to 56% of our retail customers' usage. Wind and solar subscriptions are available for residential and small business customers who want more of their energy from renewables.
Evergy’s continued investment in renewable energy, including wind and solar energy and expanded energy efficiency programs helps bring us closer to achieving our net-zero carbon target by 2045. These sustainable investments reduce our carbon footprint and help preserve our natural resources.
Our energy sources include coal, gas, fuel oil, wind, solar, nuclear, biogas and hydroelectric. Using several different energy sources helps maintain a balanced power system that is flexible to changes like fuel prices, extreme weather events and other factors.
