Evergy grant program helps four area non-profits Spread Good Energy
With more than 6,100 votes cast, four area non-profits will receive up to $10,000 and a day with Evergy employee volunteers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – March 28, 2023 – Evergy will help four area non-profits Spread Good Energy. Over the past two weeks, visitors to Evergy’s Facebook page have voted for projects by 10 area non-profits as part of the Spread Good Energy Hometown Grants program. The four winners will each receive their requested project funding of up to $10,000 and a day with Evergy employee volunteers. The winners are:

  • The Healthy Bourbon County Action Team in Fort Scott, Kan., with 1,531 votes will build its first all-inclusive, fully accessible splash pad and sensory park with no physical or social barriers.
  • With 784 votes, the Blue Rapids Community Action Team, Manhattan, Kan., will enhance a valuable community park by adding a swing set and improved surface materials.  
  • Passageways, Wichita, Kan., received 775 votes and will improve their meditation garden for the veterans they serve through additional fencing materials, a privacy fence and small shed to store equipment.
  • St. Joseph, Mo., Habitat for Humanity, with 718 votes will build a new community distribution and education center to store disaster relief materials.  

More than 150 area non-profit organizations submitted projects for consideration for a Spread Good Energy Hometown Grant. Ten finalists were selected and posted to Evergy’s Facebook page for voting. Evergy employee volunteers will assist with projects during the company’s upcoming Impact Weeks April 14-30.
