Evergy Releases Fall Energy Efficiency Checklist on Energy Efficiency Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – October 4, 2023 – October brings cooler weather, and it’s also a good time to focus on energy usage. October is Energy Awareness Month and October 4 is Energy Efficiency Day.

On Energy Efficiency Day, Evergy encourages customers to take advantage of the milder weather to prepare their home for winter weather ahead. From simple changes to larger projects, customers can use this Fall Energy Efficiency Checklist to make small improvements that can have a big impact.

  • Schedule routine service for your HVAC system.
  • Cover drafty windows.
  • Install proper weather stripping near doors where there are gaps, seals, or leaks.
  • Use area rugs on hardwood floors.
  • If you have a fireplace, keep the damper closed unless a fire is burning.
  • Set your thermostat as low as comfortable when you are home.
  • Sign up to receive your free Energy Savings Kit from Evergy. This includes a free home energy assessment, smart power strips, LED lightbulbs, four faucet aerators, and more.

Customers can also download the Evergy app ahead of winter storm season to stay updated on outages and other alerts.

Focusing on energy efficiency can help families save hundreds of dollars a year and reduce stress on the electric grid.
